Aaron Burke is Assoc. Prof. of the Archaeology of Ancient Israel and the Levant in the Near Eastern Languages and Cultures department at UCLA, where he is also a member of the Cotsen Institute of Archaeology. He received his Ph.D. in Near Eastern archaeology from The University of Chicago in 2004 and has participated in excavations in Israel, Egypt, and Turkey. Since 2007 he has been co-director of the Jaffa Cultural Heritage Project, a multi-disciplinary archaeological research project focused on the exploration of Jaffa, Israel. This project is bringing to light the important role of Jaffa as a port to ancient Canaan and Israel from the Bronze Age through the Medieval period. Martin Peilstöcker is Director of the archaeological excavations of the Israel Antiquities Authority in Jaffa (Tel Yafo, Israel). As a research archaeologist of the Israel Antiquities Authority, he has also been Guest Lecturer at the University of Rochester (Rochester, NY) teaching Biblical Archaeology as part of the “Gallilean Studies” project of the Israel Antiquities Authority and the University of Rochester, 1999, a senior staff member of the Tel Megiddo expedition of the Tel Aviv University, and a senior staff member of the Tel Kabri expedition. |
